PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Olmetor-H Tablet is a combination of two medicines. It helps to control high blood pressure in different ways. If high blood pressure is not treated it can lead to heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure.

You can take Olmetor-H Tablet with or without food. The dose will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. Try to take it at the same time each day. It is important to keep taking this medicine until your doctor tells you not to. It contains a diuretic (water pill) and will make you urinate more so, it is best to avoid taking this medicine within four hours of going to bed. Use this medicine regularly to get the most benefit from it even if you feel well. High blood pressure does not usually have symptoms and if you stop taking it your risk of heart attack or stroke may increase.

This drug is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding and you should ask your doctor before taking it if you have kidney or liver disease, heart trouble or diabetes. Drinking alcohol can further lower your blood pressure and may cause side effects.

Olmetor-H Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Hydrochlorothiazide and olmesartan which lower blood pressure effectively. Olmetor-H Tablet may also cause symptoms that may indicate high potassium levels in the blood, such as nausea, diarrhea, muscle weakness and change in heart rhythm. You may have to take Olmetor-H Tablet life long. Olmetor-H Tablet controls high blood pressure but does not cure it. Do not stop taking it even if your blood pressure is well controlled. Olmetor-H Tablet is generally considered safe to be taken for long term. In some cases, long-term use may adversely affect the kidneys and the kidneys may not function as they should. Therefore, your doctor may prescribe regular blood tests to check urea, creatinine and potassium levels to keep a track of how well your kidneys are working.

Q. Can I take Olmetor-H Tablet before surgery?

Your doctor may advise you to stop taking Olmetor-H Tablet 24 hours before surgery. This is because Olmetor-H Tablet can further reduce your blood pressure when used with anesthetics. So, inform your doctor that you are taking Olmetor-H Tablet if you will be given general anesthetics (medicines that put you to sleep) or are scheduled to have any surgery.
