Muscle Relaxant

Muscle relaxants are a class of medications that are used to alleviate muscle spasms, muscle stiffness, and muscle pain. These drugs work by targeting the central nervous system or directly affecting the muscle itself to reduce muscle activity and tension. They are typically prescribed for conditions such as muscle strains, sprains, and certain musculoskeletal disorders.

There are two main categories of muscle relaxants:

Central-Acting Muscle Relaxants: These medications affect the central nervous system and are often used to treat conditions like muscle spasms and spasticity (persistent muscle contractions). They may cause drowsiness and other side effects, and they should be used with caution, especially when operating machinery or driving. Examples include drugs like cyclobenzaprine (Skelebenz 15 Capsule ER) , baclofen (Lioresal,baclof 10 ,baclof od 20,liofen 5,10 ),tizanidine (tizan 2mg,4 mg).

Direct-Acting Muscle Relaxants: These drugs work directly on the muscle fibers to reduce muscle contractions. They are typically used for acute muscle spasms and are less likely to cause sedation.
