Bacterial vaginosis

Bacterial vaginosis is a type of vaginal infection caused by an imbalance of bacteria in the vagina. Normally, the vagina contains a balance of various bacteria, including beneficial Lactobacillus species, which help keep other harmful bacteria in check. However, when there is an overgrowth of certain bacteria, particularly Gardnerella vaginalis, it can lead to BV.
