Bacterial vaginosis

Normally, the vagina contains a balance of various bacteria, including beneficial Lactobacillus species, which help keep other harmful bacteria in check. However, when there is an overgrowth of certain bacteria, particularly Gardnerella vaginalis, it can lead to BV.
