What is Priligy?

Priligy is the first oral treatment for premature ejaculation for men between the ages of 18-64 who cannot naturally control their ejaculation and cannot last longer than 2 minutes during sex. It contains the active ingredient dapoxetine hydrochloride, a drug belonging to the selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor (SSRI) group of drugs. SSRI’s are also used in the treatment of depression but act slower than Priligy, which is designed to give your body a burst of serotonin and then leave. It is possible to buy Priligy online in the UK from Pharmica on prescription with our private prescription service.

How Do Priligy Pills Work?

Priligy delays the ejaculation reflex signal to your brain via the sympathetic nervous system, influencing the amount of the neurotransmitter serotonin that reaches the brain. It controls the serotonin breakdown in the body and the levels remain higher than normal to prevent early ejaculation.

How should I take Priligy?

Priligy comes in two strengths:

  • Priligy 30 mg
  • Priligy 60 mg

The lower dose, Priligy 30mg, is recommended for starting. The tablets should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water about 1-3 hours before sex to reduce the chances of fainting. Priligy is not made to be taken everyday, but rather on an ‘on-demand’ basis. It can be taken with or without food but do not take more than one tablet in 24 hours.

Priligy starts to work about an hour after taking a tablet and can last up to four hours.

Can I take Priligy with Viagra?

No. Both Priligy tablets and medications for Erectile Dysfunction lead to low blood pressure so when taken together, they can cause fainting, dizziness, and collapses. Also, do not take Priligy pills with alcohol as it may slow your reactions, cause you to faint and be dizzy.

Are there any alternatives to Priligy?

Priligy results vary from patient to patient and it is not a cure for premature ejaculation. Alternative treatments you can try include: psychological counselling, medical treatment, or Stud100 desensitising spray to temporarily numb sensation in the penis. Thicker condoms can also help desensitise your penis if the premature ejaculation is caused by its over-sensitivity to stimulation.

You should take Priligy for at least 4 weeks (or at least 6 doses) to determine if Priligy is effective for you. This is because some men experience improvements on the first dose, while others may need to use Priligy a few times before they notice any changes.
