PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Novorapid Penfill is used for blood sugar control in people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is a fast-acting type of insulin that helps to lower blood sugar levels after meals and reduce the chances of developing serious complications of diabetes.

Novorapid Penfill is normally prescribed along with a long-acting type of insulin or other diabetes medicines. Your doctor or nurse will teach you the correct way of injecting it under the skin. It should be taken at the start of a meal or within 20 minutes after starting a meal. Check your blood sugar levels regularly, keep track of your results and share them with your doctor. This is very important to work out the correct dose of the medicine for you.

Do not use this medicine when you have low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia). Tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney, liver, or heart problems before starting treatment. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor as the dose may need to be changed. Do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to. It is only part of a treatment program that should also include a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight reduction as advised by your doctor.

BENEFITS OF NOVORAPID SOLUTION FOR INJECTION

In Treatment of Diabetes

Novorapid Penfill is a modern, rapid-acting form of insulin that helps to control high blood glucose (sugar) levels. It replaces the insulin that is normally produced in the body. This helps the glucose get into your cells so your body can use it for energy. It begins to lower your blood glucose level within 10-20 minutes of injecting it and the effect can last for 3-5 hours. You will need to learn exactly how, where, and when to inject this medicine for it to be most effective.

Lowering blood glucose levels helps reduce the risk of getting any of the serious complications of diabetes such as kidney damage, eye damage, nerve problems, and loss of limbs. Taking this medicine regularly along with proper diet and exercise will help you live a normal, healthy life.

Q. What is Novorapid Penfill made from?

Novorapid Penfill is a fast-acting, man-made version of human insulin. It is produced by the process of biotechnology called recombinant DNA technology. In this technology, the DNA is purposefully altered to get the desired product by using a fungus called Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Q. How should Novorapid Penfill be given?

The dose of Novorapid Penfill is prescribed depending upon the need of the individual. Take Novorapid Penfill regularly and take it exactly as per your doctor’s advice. It is usually given in combination with intermediate-acting or long-acting insulin. It is administered subcutaneously (under the skin) 5-10 minutes before a meal, but make sure you eat a meal or snack within 10 minutes of the insulin injection to avoid low blood sugar. It can also be given immediately after the meal.

Q. Does Novorapid Penfill make you gain weight?

Yes, Novorapid Penfill causes weight gain when used alone or when taken along with other insulin therapies. This weight gain is a common phenomenon. The reason for weight gain is the decrease in excretion of glucose through urine. It may also occur due to the anabolic effects (promoting fat and protein formation) of insulin. Consult your doctor to know the exact reason and remedy for this.

Q. Will I need Novorapid Penfill for the rest of my life?

f you are a type 1 diabetes patient, then yes, you have to take Novorapid Penfill for the rest of your life because your body is unable to produce sufficient insulin. Therefore, you would need Novorapid Penfill as an external source of insulin. However, if you are a type 2 diabetes patient, your doctor may ask you to stop Novorapid Penfill, in some cases, if you were able to manage your diabetes well and your blood sugar levels are controlled with exercise, diet, and oral medicines.

Q. Is Novorapid Penfill safe to be used in pregnancy?
