What are Migraitan migraine relief tablets?

Migraitan is a film-coated tablet containing Sumatriptan 50mg, which helps to quickly alleviate migraine symptoms such as throbbing pain in the head, nausea and sensitivity to sound and light.

Migraitan contains the medication Sumatriptan, a 5-HT1-receptor agonist, which stimulates the brain’s serotonin receptors to ease symptoms of cluster headaches and migraines.

What’s the difference between Migraitan and Sumatriptan?

Migraitan is the branded version of the generic medication, Sumatriptan. Both contain the same active ingredient ‘sumatriptan succinate’ in the same strength, which is specifically designed to relieve migraine attacks. The strength, quality and effectiveness of the active ingredients are medically equivalent, the main difference being the generic alternative is more affordable. The other difference is that we additionally stock the higher 100mg strength tablets of generic Sumatriptan; Migraitan is only available in a 50mg dose.

How should I take Migraitan tablets and when should I take them?

Swallow one Migraitan tablet whole with water as soon as you feel the first signs of a migraine headache.

The Migraitan tablets should begin to work 30 – 60 minutes after taking.

If your migraine improves but then returns at least 2 hours after taking the first tablet, you may take a second tablet.

You should not take a second tablet if the first tablet has not provided any relief.

Who is Migraitan suitable for?

  • Migraitan is only appropriate for people who have previously been diagnosed with migraine

Who is Migraitan not suitable for?

  • Not suitable for those under the age of 18 or over the age of 65
  • Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Not suitable for those with lactose intolerances as this product contains lactose monohydrate
  • Do not take if you have previously had an allergic reaction to sumatriptan

What are the possible side effects of Migraitan?
