What are Fybogel Hi-Fibre Sachets?

Fybogel Hi-Fibre Sachets are orange water-soluble dietary aids used to increase the amount of fibre in your digestive system.

What are Fybogel Hi-Fibre Sachets used for?

Fybogel’s sachets are used to treat constipation in a gentle and natural way by boosting the amount of fibre in your diet.

How do Fybogel Hi-Fibre Sachets work?

In many cases, episodic or chronic constipation is caused primarily by a diet too low in fibre. While human beings can’t digest fibre properly, it is still crucially important to our diet because it bulks up and softens our stools. This makes bowel movements easier to pass as a result.

Each Fybogel sachet contains orange-flavoured granules that you mix with water to make a high-fibre drink. After each drink, the amount of fibre in your digestive system will increase, your stools will bulk up and soften, and they’ll become easier to pass.

How long does it take Fybogel Hi-Fibre Sachets to work?

The sachets take around two to three days to work when used correctly.

How should I take the sachets?

Making the drink is easy. You simply open up the sachet and pour the contents into at least 150mls (¼ pint) of cold water. Stir the contents until all the granules have dissolved, and drink the solution straight after. You should avoid breathing in the powder when making the drink because it can occasionally trigger a mild allergic reaction.

For best results, drink two glasses of the medicine a day – once in the morning and once in the evening. It’s better to drink the solution after a meal. Make sure you take your evening dose at least an hour before you go to bed. Drinking Fybogel just before bed increases the chance of a blockage forming in your digestive system.

You should also drink six to eight glasses of fluid during the day when taking Fybogel. If you don’t, the constipation may get worse.

Who can’t take Fybogel?

Fybogel is generally very safe. It can be taken by children aged six and above and adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women. It is, however, not suitable for everyone. You must tell your doctor or pharmacist before taking Fybogel if you:

  • Are allergic to Fybogel or any other medicines
  • Have a bowel obstruction
  • Have a muscle weakness in the bowel
  • Have phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder that prevents you being able to break down the amino acid phenylalanine

What are the side effects of Fybogel?

Most people who take Fybogel sachets have no side effects or only minor ones. If you do experience mild side effects, they can include:

  • Flatulence
  • Bloating

You must stop taking Fybogel and tell your doctor or pharmacist if you experience the symptoms of an allergic reaction when taking it, such as itchy eyes, nose or skin.

How should I store Fybogel?

Fybogel should be stored in a dry, cool environment that does not exceed 25°C.
